At Barksdale, we have a deep respect and fondness for our BKs (breeders and puppies) and believe it is our responsibility to give our breeding dogs the opportunity to have one family Forever Home (Guardian Home) in their life.
What is a Guardian Home?
A Guardian Home is a family that is a guardian or caretaker of a Barksdale Breeder dog during their breeding career and in retirement. Upon retirement the BK Guardian Breeder will be spayed or neutered at Barksdale’s expense and live the rest of their life as a well-loved companion with their Forever Family. Guardian homes are within a 2 hour radius around our headquarters in Magee, MS. Male dogs are placed within 1 hour, while the females must be placed with 2 hours of Magee.
What is a Guardian Breeder?
Only 4% of all Barksdale Labradoodles puppies are qualified to be breeders. One of our main goals to place these breeder puppies in the most compatible households is for breed development itself. The advancement of the Barksdale Labradoodles Breeder Program is a close second.
How Does the Guardian Program Work?
There is no purchase price for these wonderful BK ALd’s but Barksdale does retain all breeding rights. We ask that the Guardian Family is willing to provide a loving, caring, and responsible home for the rest of his/her life. While the Guardian Home is responsible for feeding and general Veterinary care Barksdale does provide Guardian Veterinary Health Insurance Coverage. Barksdale is responsible for breeding, genetic testing, and puppy care expenses. Click here to access those printable PDF forms that give more specifics.
